IC Information

Name/Alias: Johanna of Arcote
Age: 40s
Occupation: Distiller/Brewer
Born with The Vice?: Yes
If yes, do they use it?: Yes

Appearance: Johanna is a tall, thin woman with long dark hair, light eyes, and a rather severe face. She has a mean air about her, as though she is ready to argue at the barest provocation, and the way she holds herself suggests that she has brought and is willing to use a knife to settle that argument. She is otherwise terribly banal and her mode of dress shifts often even if her countenance does not.

History:

Johanna is from Haguenne, the walled town of Arcote on the river Épiteaux. She married young and had a child shortly after. Her husband was a baker, her daughter was a beauty and also married young. Johanna worked as a distiller, supplying the doctors and alchemists of Arcote with refined spirits for their work. She lived a very happy life until the plague struck Haguenne.

Both her husband and daughter succumbed to the disease, along with most of the population. Johanna, fortunately, was not struck down and remained healthy even when quarantine fell upon them. She managed to escape the town on the river and watched as they barred the gates and set it aflame.

When the sun rose, she decided to travel to Maireglenne and Gods' Reach so she could spit on the altar in person.

Personality: Johanna is talkative, opinionated, intelligent, and angry, perpetually and quintessentially angry. She does her work well but is given to fits of extreme focus or depression. She is often drunk and, more often, she is full of vitriol. She excels at picking fights and blasphemes a fair amount--this is a habit she will have to try to break in Maireglenne. Unfortunately it was a habit that was not quite as unacceptable abroad.

Abilities: Johanna cannot hunt, cannot shoot a bow, and can barely ride a horse. She is capable of cooking but her skills lean toward baking very heavily. She has basic alchemical training, has a working knowledge of brewing and wine-making, and can distill spirits. She can read and write very well in both the common speak and Haugen. Her skill with the Vice is more than passing and, if no one is looking, she can lift and assemble objects, set and squelch fires, and manipulate water with some finesse.

Reputation: Johanna is very new, she keeps to herself, doesn't speak often, and causes no trouble. She has the look of a pilgrim who has traveled far and hard, because she is.
